Let's talk about the Octopus in the room
But... why octopuses?
I read a book a long time ago, "Other Minds: The Octopus, the Sea, and the Deep Origins of Consciousness". A deep-dive into octopus biology and the nature of consciousness, it began a long-standing sense of wonder and admiration of them. Their nature and abilities like regeneration and problem-solving are traits I also value. Their short and dramatic lives remind me that "life is for the living". The book also started philosophical frame of mind that's grown with age about just about everything else too.
